Chapter Six

Gary eased toward the bed, unable to help the arousal that simmered through him. The prospect of getting his hands on all the gorgeous, tanned flesh on display before him was just too alluring. It had been a long time since he’d been intimate with anything other than his right hand.

And that’s not changing now. This is just a massage.

Even his mental chastisement didn’t do anything to ease the waves of desire buffeting his system. His dick was already hard behind the fly of his nice jeans, and he hadn’t even touched the man, yet.

Stopping next to the bed, Gary tried to decide the best place to start.

“They told you a shifter has enhanced senses, like smell,” Rudy murmured softly, turning his head to peer at him. “That means I can smell your arousal, my mate.”

“Oh.” Embarrassment surged through Gary, and he swallowed hard before whispering, “Sorry.”

“I don’t say that to embarrass you, Gary,” Rudy countered.

“Then why?” Gary had to ask.

Rudy smiled at him, the expression somewhat lethargic. “I’m hard, too,” he admitted. “Your scent, your presence, does that to me.” He tipped his chin a bit, and he eyed Gary’s body. “I just mean, you can’t be comfortable like that. Plus, the oil could get on your clothes once you’re kneeling beside me on the bed.” Rudy’s eyes narrowed a little, and he licked his lips. “No pressure, my mate, but perhaps you’d be more comfortable if you took off those jeans and that nice shirt.”

Acting on instinct, Gary crossed his arms over his belly. He looked away and nibbled his bottom lip. Gary knew he didn’t have a gorgeous body like Rudy.

Would his belly turn the man off? It had happened before.

His nerves caused his erection to begin to soften.

“Oh, my mate,” Rudy crooned. Reaching out, he gripped Gary’s wrist in a loose hold. “I don’t know what just popped into your head, but it couldn’t have been good.” After another light squeeze, Rudy released him, saying, “I’m sorry, Gary. I didn’t mean to pressure you.”

Gary shook his head, realizing Rudy had gotten the wrong impression. “Not that,” he whispered, sliding his hands up to rub at his opposite arms. “What if, um”—he paused a second, then forced himself to finish—”what if you don’t like how I look?”

Rudy’s brows shot up, a look of confusion creasing his features. “Not like the way you look?” Shaking his head just a smidge as he swept his gaze over Gary’s frame, he immediately added, “That’s not possible. You’re perfect.”

Scoffing, Gary rolled his eyes. “No, I’m fat.”

“Not fat,” Rudy countered, a growl entering his voice. “Sturdy, and I happen to like that.”

Gaping, Gary stared at the man on the bed. “Y-You do?”

“Hell, yeah,” Rudy replied emphatically. “I’m a shifter, with increased strength and speed. You being sturdy means I’m less likely to hurt you with my undeniable need for your delectable body.”

Gary cocked his head, not having thought of it that way before. “Um, okay.”

Still, Gary couldn’t help but blush as he gripped the hem of his shirt.
